Cleer-Air™ Heavy-Duty Air Filters

Cleer-Air™ Technical Information

Pleated Material

Cleer-Air™ heavy duty air filters are manufactured in the United States using high quality materials designed for long-term use.  All Cleer-Air™ air filters are covered by a 5 year limited warranty.

The Cleer-Air™ filter's deeper, wider pleat construction overcomes many paper filters obstacles, improving filter life and dust retention.

Using Cleer-Air™ filters extends service intervals up to six times longer than equivalent disposable paper air filters while allowing for increased air flow and improved filtration.  This is accomplished by incorporating proprietary oiled filter technology that uses the accumulated particulate deposited on the pleats as part of the filtration process.  The oil on Cleer-Air™ filters surrounds the particulate, allowing air to continue to flow through.  By contrast, other air filters, in a misguided attempt to increase efficiency, pack the filter with excess pleats, causing dirt to harden and accumulate on the surface, severely restricting air flow.

Two layers of epoxy coated aluminum wire screening cover the pleat media providing increased structural support and protection against pleat damage from rubbing against the expanded metal support cage.  The media in paper filters is usually over-packed with glue applied in a spiral pattern on the pleat surface.  This glue can come loose and get sucked in the engine.  In addition, when the paper media moves, it can be damaged and wear as the paper pleats rub against the expanded metal support cage.  This will often cause holes in the paper pleat media.

Cleer-Air™ cotton, oiled media, filters out contaminating particles with less physical obstruction than paper elements, while trapping and dissipating moisture.  The microfibers coated with proprietary filter oil, is wicked throughout the pleated surfaces, suspending dirt particles in the air filter.  This allows improved, elevated air flow at reduced restriction levels, over a longer period of time versus disposable paper filters.  The absorbent properties of the oil create a balanced porous structure, using the particulate to provide filtering over and above the media filtration, sometimes as much as a quarter inch more in depth.  Dry paper filters pack dust and dirt on the media surface and when exposed to moisture, the dirt solidifies, stopping the flow of air.  The only way to overcome this solidified blockage is to replace the disposable filter with a new filter and throw the old one away.

Seal Design

Cleer-Air™ features a superior seal design with long-lasting polyurethane material construction.  Poorly designed seals in other products either permit air leakage or become distorted in the filter housing.  Many paper filters use plastisol or air/foam seals, which over time lose elasticity, resulting in seal failure.  Since visual inspection cannot distinguish between a good quality (fully cured) and out of specification seal (not cured), the problem is not detected until the seal fails in service.
